Redshift Education Welcomes Four Independent Schools as Group Expands to Six

Date:

Redshift Education has announced the addition of four highly respected independent schools to its growing education group ahead of the 2026–2027 academic year.

The acquisition marks a significant milestone in Redshift Education’s development, bringing King’s School & Nursery in Plymouth, Colchester Prep & High School, Salcombe Preparatory School and Glenesk School into the group.

The four schools join existing Redshift schools Long Close School and Polam School & Nursery, taking the group to six independent schools across England.

Each of the newly welcomed schools has its own distinctive heritage, character and community. Redshift Education says that preserving these individual identities will remain central to its approach, while providing the investment, expertise and strategic support required to secure each school’s long-term success.

A shared commitment to excellence

The expansion reflects Redshift Education’s ambition to build a family of outstanding independent schools where individual school identities are celebrated while the benefits of being part of a wider group can be shared.

The group remains focused on delivering exceptional educational outcomes, outstanding pastoral care and enriching opportunities that allow every pupil to flourish.

For the four new schools, joining Redshift provides access to a wider network of expertise and resources while allowing them to retain the values, traditions and characteristics that make them special to their pupils and communities.

Chairman Timothy Fisher has also addressed the acquisition in a new Q&A, discussing what the schools’ arrival means for Redshift, why the four schools were considered such a strong fit and the opportunities that lie ahead.

Four schools, four distinctive identities

The new additions each bring something different to the Redshift family.

King’s School & Nursery, Plymouth brings its established reputation and community presence in the South West.

Colchester Prep & High School adds a strong independent school community in Essex, further broadening the group’s presence.

Salcombe Preparatory School brings its own distinctive preparatory-school character and heritage.

Glenesk School adds another valued school community to the expanding Redshift group.

While the schools are now part of the same organisation, Redshift’s philosophy is that there is no single template for what makes a great school.

“Great schools are defined by their people, their heritage and their place within their communities,” is the message underpinning the group’s approach.

Opportunities to learn from one another

With six schools now within the group, there will be increased opportunities for collaboration and the sharing of expertise across the Redshift community.

The schools will be able to benefit from being part of a wider network while continuing to develop their own individual strengths. Collaboration between schools can create opportunities to share ideas, experience and best practice across areas including teaching and learning, pastoral care, leadership and wider school life.

For pupils and families, the ambition is that this shared expertise ultimately strengthens the educational experience while preserving what makes each individual school unique.

Looking ahead

For Chairman Timothy Fisher, the acquisition represents both an important achievement and the beginning of the next stage of Redshift Education’s journey.

The group’s long-term ambition is to create a family of outstanding independent schools with strong foundations, distinctive identities and a shared commitment to excellence.

The arrival of the four new schools represents a major step towards that ambition.

Redshift Education is delighted to welcome the pupils, families, staff and governors of King’s School & Nursery, Colchester Prep & High School, Salcombe Preparatory School and Glenesk School to the group and looks forward to the opportunities ahead.
