ABOUT REDSHIFT

The Meaning Behind Redshift
Of course, Redshift refers to the astronomical phenomenon which describes the expansion and growth of star systems bound together as a collective by gravity. However, Redshift was also the name given to an aircraft engine developed in the late 1970s by Mr. Timothy Fisher's father, a skilled pilot and engineer. His grandfather was equally an adept engineer and, in 1937, developed an early prototype of a turbine engine - the Fisher Engine. This early-stage jet engine was gifted to the University of Sheffield’s Aerospace Laboratory in 1989. Naming the group Redshift Education is both a tribute to his family’s technical legacy and a reflection of the values that underpin the education group’s philosophy. It is an education philosophy rooted in progress, innovation, and belief in every learner’s potential.
our logo
The design is informed by the Doppler effect, representing movement, energy, and expansion, directly referencing the concept of redshift in physics. Combined with the form of a turbine engine, it reflects the technical legacy of founder Timothy Fisher’s family, specifically the early jet engine prototype developed by his grandfather in 1937.
More than a visual mark, the logo reflects Redshift Education’s commitment to progress, innovation, and the transformative role of learning, with each ring symbolising the impact of education on both the individual and society.
