King’s School & Nursery has been recognised as a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School for the 2026–27 programme year, celebrating the school’s continued commitment to innovation and meaningful digital transformation in education.
The recognition places King’s within a global community of schools recognised by Microsoft for their commitment to using technology and artificial intelligence to support teaching, learning, operations, policy and governance.
In its official notification to the school, Microsoft congratulated King’s on its commitment to “innovation, leadership, and meaningful digital transformation”, recognising its whole-school approach to using Microsoft tools and AI to help shape the future of education.
As a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School, King’s will have access to a range of opportunities throughout the 2026–27 programme year, including a professional community of school leaders and educators, opportunities to connect with Microsoft programme and product teams, community calls, events and professional learning.
The school will also receive global recognition through the Microsoft Elevate community, alongside a digital badge and certificate and opportunities to support the professional development of its staff through Microsoft certification.
Technology with purpose
The recognition reflects the ongoing work at King’s School & Nursery to develop digital learning in a way that supports the school’s wider educational aims.
Rather than viewing technology as an end in itself, the school continues to explore how digital tools and emerging technologies, including AI, can be used purposefully to enhance teaching and learning and provide pupils and staff with the skills they need for an increasingly digital world.
The school’s Digital Learning Lead, Charlie Wright, has played an important role in supporting this work alongside colleagues across the school.
Headteacher Sarah Ibbotson welcomed the recognition, describing it as a “great achievement” for the school.
Recognition across Redshift Education
King’s achievement comes alongside recognition for another Redshift Education school, Colchester Prep & High School, which has also been named a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School for the 2026–27 academic year.
For Redshift Education, these achievements demonstrate the growing focus on innovation, digital development and responsible use of technology across its family of schools.
Redshift believes that technology and AI should be approached thoughtfully and responsibly, with a clear focus on how they can enhance education, support teachers and create meaningful opportunities for pupils.
The recognition of both King’s School & Nursery and Colchester Prep & High School by Microsoft is a proud moment for their pupils, staff and wider school communities.
Congratulations to everyone at King’s School & Nursery on this achievement.
